Sourdough Kentucky Butter Cake
Prep Time:10 minutes
Cook Time:1 hour

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup sourdough starter
  • ¾ cup butter milk
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Butter Glaze

  • cup butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Prepare bundt pan with butter and flour. Make sure you cover the pan very well with butter. You don't want the cake to stick to the pan when you turn it out after it is done cooling.
  • Dump all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix on medium high for 3 minutes.
  • Bake 50-60 minutes, until wooden skewer comes out clean.

Butter Glaze

  • Once the cake is done, we can start the Butter glaze. Put all the ingredients into a small sauce pan over medium low heat.
  • Stir until Butter is melted and sugar has dissolved. Take off heat before it starts to boil.
  • Before we pour the butter glaze on our cake, we need to make holes in the cake for the butter glaze to seep through. Use a wooden skewer to poke holes all around the cake… the more the better.
  • Once this is done, pour the glaze over the cake while it’s still in the bundt pan.
  • Let cake cool completely before turning out onto a serving plate. After the cake it cool and turned out onto a plate, I like to dust the top with powdered sugar to make it look extra pretty. Slice and enjoy!
